So, this is what we started:



1) To open spaces we put a window in the wall adjoining the living room and the kitchen. This opened up the visiting space and made it so that if you are working in the kitchen you can still be involved in the living room conversations and fun.



2)Again, to open spaces we knocked down a wall which adjoined a bedroom and the kitchen. It is now a spare bedroom or a visiting/computer room. We installed pocketdoors to the kitchen which made closing off the room for company a breeze.
